Engineered Revivals: Thoughts on Elevation’s Ecclesiatrics on The Cripplegate
In wake of a recent article posted regarding the ecclesiological (of or relating to the doctrine of the church) methodology of Elevation Church – a mega church in Charlotte, North Carolina, pastored by Steven Furtick – pastor Eric Davis has crafted a helpful and edifying article to add to the ever expanding Cripplegate archive. In his article, Pastor Eric offers 10 thoughts on the idea of engineered revivals, offering great insight and encouragement regarding the areas of church growth and the faithfulness of the pastor, resting in the promise that Jesus will build His church (Matthew 16:18).
He writes,
When it comes to the glorious miracle of conversion, God already has to work in spite of us. Let’s not make him have to do so even more. Like Simon the magician, we risk soliciting the Spirit for mammon. But God already sovereignly engineered it all by his grace.
All the ink spilled to produce pages of ecclesiatrics has diluted the saving message of the cross. When the people are saying, “Consult the mediums, spiritists, and ecclesiatrical engineers,” should not a people inquire of their God? Back to the Scriptures we must go. Salvation is from the Lord.
